Prof. (Dr.) Col Debajyoti Bhattacharyya is a distinguished academician and mental health expert with a profound interest in CBME (Competency-Based Medical Education) based Medical Education. He earned his MBBS degree in 1986 from NRS Medical College, Kolkata, and completed his MD in Psychiatry in 1997 from AFMC, Pune University.
Having served as a psychiatrist and Professor in NBE (National Board of Examinations) and MCI (Medical Council of India) training institutes, specializing in Psychiatry, he has been associated with various esteemed teaching institutions, including Army College of Medical Sciences in Delhi and Armed Forces Medical College in Pune. Moreover, he has played a significant role as a mental health advisor for the Armed Forces in Jammu and Kashmir.
Prof. Debajyoti Bhattacharyya’s research interests span several key areas, including Schizophrenia, Addiction, Suicide, Stress Management, Medical Education, and Quality of life. He holds life fellowships with various prestigious organizations, such as the Indian Psychiatric Society, Indian Association of Industrial Psychiatry, Indian Association of Social Psychiatry, and Addiction Psychiatry Society of India.
With 33 years of clinical experience in the Armed Forces Medical Services and 23 years of teaching experience, he has contributed to numerous national and international publications. Additionally, he has been actively involved in community mental health promotion activities for 7 years in North East India, Jammu and Kashmir, and United Nations peacekeeping operations.
Prof. Bhattacharyya has also played a pivotal role as an expert advisor for different projects of the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), particularly in building resilience among soldiers. Notably, he has been recognized as a teacher and examiner by NBE, MCI, and NIMHANS (National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences).
His outstanding contributions have garnered him the Marfatia Award of the Indian Psychiatric Society in 2009 and commendation from the United Nations in 2010 for his role as a Psychiatrist and UN Level-3 Medical Chief. Furthermore, he has undergone training in bioethics for health science faculty through the UNESCO 3T-IBHSc program and has been trained and certified in Health research fundamentals. He has also completed the Advance course in medical education (ACME).

Medical Superintendent Cum Vice Principal
Professor (Dr.) Arumugam Kalia Perumal is a highly esteemed Neurosurgeon. He completed his MBBS at the prestigious Madras Medical College in 1980 and achieved the degree of Master of Chirurgiae (MCh.) in Neurosurgery from Stanley Medical College in 1990, both under the University of Madras.
With an illustrious career in the medical field, he has served as faculty in various renowned Medical Colleges in Tamil Nadu for over two decades, including more than a decade as a Professor. In September 2021, he joined Shri Ramkrishna Institute of Medical Sciences & Sanaka Hospitals, Durgapur, marking a new chapter in his career.
